If You Love Us, This Is A Must Read! :)

BIG NEWS!

This little family of ours, is getting a +1 !!!!

Say "Hello" to Baby Barthlome #2!

We are THRILLED about our new little one, and ready to share the news! We have shared the news with our immediate family, and closest friends, and want to share it with our many other loved ones.

We found out our exciting news at the beginning of August when I had had a gut feeling i was pregnant, but there was a negative test. So i figured i must have been wrong, and maybe things were just off.

But then two weeks later, i realized i was STILL waiting, so decided to take another test.
i was completely shocked when there was a very very faint positive. I made Caleb look at it to tell me if my eyes were playing tricks, but he saw it too.

Then i decided i was done messing with lines, and just wanted a clear digital answer. There was no denying that "Pregnant". So, we got excited, and i promptly blabbed to my parents about how excited we were!

For some reason, i was terrified things would go wrong, and kept needing to be reassured i really was pregnant. Since there had been such a faint response, i guess i thought maybe it was a false positive. So throughout the next two weeks as we waited for our first Dr appointment, i took three more tests. and since they were getting progressively darker, i quit worrying.

According to LMP, we should have been 8 weeks at our first appointment, but we weren't. The U/S showed no heart beat, and just an empty gestational sac. The Doc said we would have to be only 4 or 5 weeks along.  It was either a miscarriage waiting to happen, or we were just alot earlier than we thought. She explained that i also had subchorionic hematoma, and it was a bit worrisome, but "whatever will be, will be" so we shouldn't give up hope, but made sure i knew what signs of miscarriage were. i was heartbroken and we walked away very unsure what the next week would bring us. Caleb was pretty confidant we were just early and reminded me of how long it took to get a positive, and how faint the first one was. but i was terrified, and trying to prepare myself for the worst.  I just wanted to be left alone and get through the week, and even took a break from Facebook.

Baby #2, 6 wks/3 ds
We went in for a second U/S on Aug 30th, and we were so relieved to see a little heartbeat flickering on the screen! Our original due date was April 5, 2013, but doc said baby was measuring a few weeks behind, and it would probably be more like April 22nd. The heart rate was measuring at 102 bpm, and she said it was still looking small, but everything looked good! The subchorionic hematoma had even improved to the point the Doc wasn't concerned anymore! We were so thrilled, but wanted to wait til a bit closer to the second trimester, just in case. We had enough of a scare already, and didn't want to have to handle even the chance of a public heartbreak.

Baby #2, 10 wks/3 ds
Yesterday we went in for another appointment, and baby was measuring right on schedule for the April 22nd due date! The Doc said heartbeat looked beautiful at about 150 bpm. We are so happy everything is going well! i was very concerned we would go in and find heartbreaking news waiting for us. but we both feel so confidant in having seen the heartbeat twice, that we decided we felt comfortable sharing our news!

We are expecting our little bundle of joy April 22nd, 2013!  It will push back our plans to move back to Idaho until June-ish, but we feel it is worth it :). And we can't wait!!!!
