One Year Older

Our little Munchkin had his first birthday!!!! Since no one else got to share in his special day, we took plenty of pictures to share with all our loved ones, who love him too! Because Caleb had been at work last night and didn't get to bed until late, our birthday activities didn't start until after nap time. In the morning it was just Mom and Connor hanging out! He was lookin cute all morning, and i could hardly believe he is ONE already!!! where did time go????

After nap time and lunch we went to the pool, since it was a whopping 102 outside! Connor always LOOOOOVES the pool! but it is much more exciting when Daddy comes with us! We were there for about an hour, and then we decided we better get inside and get cleaned up for the rest of our activities. we sure had a blast!!!

does that face look excited or what????
this birthday boy loooooves swimming with daddy!
Connor loves hanging on the side of the pool.
hey, i don't want to take pictures! i want to SWIM!

After getting all cleaned and dressed we had some time to play with out birthday boy before opening his presents... needless to say, we had quite a bit of fun! Although, Connor did not appreciate me sticking that crown on his head haha!

hey get that off my head!!!
he kept holding it behind his head and then  throwing it haha
he got some pretty cool toys from Marne and family...he enjoys them! :)

Present time! Connor got tons of presents, and there were too many to take pictures of every single one... so if you don't see something you gave him, don't worry, he DID get it! He had quite a good time opening things with Daddy's help! He has already been playing with all his toys over and over and over again today!

After presents we took Connor out to Applebee's for a birthday dinner! of course, he was more excited about his crayons than the food...

And when we got home and had some time to let our tummy's be less full, it was cake time! I decided this year that i was going to make Connor's birthday cake, since he would just be squashing it up anyways. i thought it could be a good experience, but it wasn't. so please don't be mean about the cakes... i know they do not look that pretty! the whole experience was a disaster. i wished i had my sisters to make it all for me... Melinda to cook it, and Jessica to decorate it. then it would have been perfect! but, it wasn't. like i said before, it was a huge disaster. and I'm very embarrassed about how bad it turned out. so please, don't judge! I did the best i could with my limited baking talents, and my hatred of it! Connor was hanging on me while i did the decorating, so it all turned out to be a mess. but, its not like he cared anyways, right??? :)

i made Connor a personal cake for smashing...
and then made a cake for eating... and this was more of a disaster than the other!
Daddy helped blow out the candle!
he cracked me up with how carefully he tasted it before digging in...
apparently cake it for playing with, not eating...
he was so worn out, he barely ate any and just played in it
ok, i'm done! you want the rest???? here!

We had quite a fantastic day with out little one year old! we definitely missed all of our family, and wished we could be there to celebrate with them though. i was mainly just glad Caleb was able to get the day off so that he didn't have to miss any of our little family celebrating! We had a blast and hope our little Connor did too! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNOR!!!

Reminiscings...

it feels so weird to know that the last year has gone by sooooo fast! it was one year ago that i welcomed our little Connor into the world, without Caleb by my side. i can honestly say, that was very, very hard. but, it was worth it. getting to finally hold him made it all worth it for me. today i am soooo glad that Caleb is here to celebrate this special day with me! i love watching the bond that Caleb and Connor have as father and son, and i love that they love to be together! when i got to hold Connor for the first time i could hardly believe it was real! he was so tiny and quiet and perfect! it was a day i will never forget. i read back over my blog entry from the experience and for anyone else who wants to read it, the link is here. it was quite an exhausting day, and there were times when he was small that i felt over whelmed and inadequate, but none of that changes the fact that our little boy was, and still is, just what i needed. he helps me to be better each and every day! i am so glad that Connor is a part of our family! i know we got lucky to have such a sweet little boy. ever since he was teeny weeny, he has had such a good nature.  his adorable laugh lights up a room, and even perfect strangers are enchanted by his sweet smile. we feel so lucky to be his parents!!! we have so many hopes and dreams for our little boy, and we are enjoying every second of watching him grow and learn. it's hard to believe he is a year old already! we have fun plans to celebrate today, and i will be posting about it at a later time! Happy Birthday Connor Scott! Mommy and Daddy love you!!!!

Mother's Day

Happy First (Real) Mother's Day to me!!!! last year i considered myself a mother, since i was about ready to pop! but this year was the first time i got to celebrate it with my little boy and my hubby! on Saturday Caleb and Connor snuck out to the store and bought my chocolate and flowers and surprised me with them! i had thought they just went out to the mailbox, but i was wrong. it was soooo sweet! i also got sweet cards from family in Idaho, and a cute book called "why i son needs a mother" from Caleb's mom. i had a great morning and was feeling very loved, but then for some reason, i decided i needed to give myself my own mother's day gift. and what was that gift??? oh, just a concussion. smart move, huh? NOT!

As we were getting into the car to head to church, i clumsily slammed my head into the door frame of the car, and was in quite a bit of pain. i had a nice goose egg all through church, and developed a bad headache, and was feeling dizzy and weak, and to be honest, a bit nauseous! :( i ended up leaving church early, since Connor has been teething horribly and was unhappy, and with the misery i was already feeling, i just couldn't bring myself to stay the rest of it. The goose egg ended up going down, and a bruise developed instead. i went to bed feeling a bit better, but didn't sleep well at all. Connor woke me up very early the next day, and things all went downhill as the morning progressed. After looking up concussion symptoms, i came to the conclusion that i was pretty darn sure i had one, and as long as i didn't do much and just relaxed i didn't feel quite so miserable! Today has been the same, and i'm just hoping it gets better soon! and also i'm hoping that no one i run into thinks my poor hubby punched me!!! that would make me so sad, cuz it really is my own stinking clumsiness that gets me in these situations! even though i'm not enjoying this at all, it does make a funny story. hopefully next year i don't try and repeat it!!!!

Another Week of Smiles

This week we have been having lots more fun! Connor has been practicing his throwing skills and his favorite thing is to throw balls with Daddy! Mommy found a super fun ball that lights up, and Connor has already learned that if you throw it on the tile, its way more fun than on the carpet!!!

Connor ate spaghetti and made the biggest mess...but it was too cute to go without documenting. Who likes spaghetti???? Connor says "I"!!!!!

Connor has also discovered the fun parts of helping mommy with chores... that swiffer mop is pretty fun!!!!

Once again, Connor is throwing balls! he would throw it to daddy, and daddy would throw it far, and Connor would go get it... the funniest part was that one time Caleb threw it, it hit Connor smack in the middle of the forehead and bounced off and Connor busted out laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world... our cute little boy!

Connor did the cutest thing just the other day, which i'd never seen him do before. but it proves he is definitely my child! haha! a child after my own heart thats for sure! take a peek at his cute new skill!

we have had a bit of a stressful week, but we are sure everything will get better soon. we are looking forward to celebrating connor's first birthday this thursday! i will be taking plenty of pics and posting about it afterwards, so keep your eyes out for it!

Dining Out

This weekend Caleb and i got to go to his first military ball, which they call "dining out". i was very excited to go since Caleb was sponsored to go by his company commander because his uniform was in one of the best conditions of the entire unit. I was introduced to him, and he told me i should be proud of Caleb because they're unit is one of the largest around here, and Caleb was in the top two of the entire unit. i thought that was pretty cool to hear straight from his commander's mouth! and i was also pretty excited to get all dressed up and go out on a date with my hubby, since it feels like its been forever since we've done that! we took a few pictures beforehand, and since i'd promised to share pics with several people, i decided this was the easiest way. we had a very good time, the only downside was that we didn't get to sit at a table with anyone we knew, and it lasted much longer than we'd expected.  by 10:15 when the end of the dinner and speech came, we weren't even feeling up for dancing, and decided to better go get our son from the babysitter!

my hair...didn't do what i'd originally planned cuz connor was trying to be hepful.

we had a picture taken while we were there but i don't have it yet. will have to post it when i get it. :) we had a great time! seemed kinda like a grown up prom! great memories!!!
